does anyone else find it awkward emailing teachers like are you supposed to say hey, or hi or use their name or say love from at the end?

Start with hello its more professional then hey or hi. You don’t have to put there names but if you do refer to them as “professor whatever” or “mr./ms. whatever”. Refer to them by the appropriate title.

At the end of the e-mail “Best Wishes” or “Best Regards” they are respectful with out being too formal. 

This of course is only some suggestions and if you are close to the teacher or know that they don’t care too much about formality then feel free to write the email however you like.
